Overview Testimonials
“We can no longer imagine our office without JustWare; it enables us to work more efficiently than we ever have! Law enforcement agencies—as well as Child and Family Services, the Courts, Juvenile and Adult Probation—continually look to us for statistical reports in order to help with grants, budgets, or just keeping track of information. We rely heavily on JustWare to generate documents, track civil cases, contracts, coroner reports, forfeitures, search warrants, child support cases and criminal matters and to run reports for any kind of data. In doing so, it has eliminated errors on outgoing documents and has enabled agencies to receive grants that they normally wouldn’t have the information to back up the request. If I ever leave my job, I’m taking JustWare with me!”

Three district attorney officesChurchill District Attorneys, Carson City District Attorneys and Lyon County District Attorneyscombine to purchase a robust case management solution: JustWare | Prosecutor.  The Adminstrative Office of the Courts utilizes JusticeBroker for GJXDM data integration for a statewide data warehouse project.

Challenge

Using grant funding from the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) in Nevada, the Churchill, Carson City and Lyon County district attorney’s offices were seeking a case management solution for an eventual data-sharing project.

Solution

In conjunction with the Administrative Office of the Courts, New Dawn Technologies is participating in a multi-county integrated criminal justice information system data warehouse project (MC-IJIS) for data sharing among the sheriff, police, Nevada Highway Patrol, District Attorney, City Attorney, Public Defender and the municipal, justice and district courts of Carson City, Lyon County and Churchill County. New Dawn’s JusticeBroker data exchange toolkit will allow all of these external data sources to submit and receive data to and from the data warehouse.

JustWare was chosen from among several vendors to provide case management, document automation and report creation. Churchill County, who had used a paper-based system, was the first agency to implement JustWare, using JustWare to track civil cases, contracts, coroner reports, forfeitures, search warrants, child support cases and criminal matters.  Carson City and Lyon County followed.

MC-IJIS is an Oracle/XML-based justice data exchange warehouse that serves as a common, standard interface between multiple vendors’ law enforcement, court, prosecutor and state systems. The MC-IJIS system allows justice data to flow between agencies, including automated case creation in the case tracking system of the receiving agency, thereby eliminating the need to re-key criminal data and improving the data accuracy and synchronicity among all participating agencies.

Result

All of the agencies have standardized code tables and document templates, and they utilize Corel WordPerfect for their document automation. Churchill County District Attorney’s Office Application Administrator, Kate Martin, and Assistant District Attorney, Tom Stockard, have provided continued input into the advancement and growth of their case management system by conducting monthly meetings to discuss JustWare issues, needs and system use tips with their general staff.

“New Dawn Technologies proved to be a valuable contractor by providing the District Attorneys’ Offices progressive records management systems (JustWare) at reasonable market prices,” said Steve Tuttle, project manager. Tuttle said that New Dawn Technologies ensured that JustWare complied with the MC-IJIS schema throughout several iterations.

New Dawn Technologies participated in several local and national MC-IJIS demonstrations, including SEARCH and Court Technologies Conference. These demonstrations showcased the strength of MC-IJIS and the power of a fully integrated justice community.

Development staff at New Dawn Technologies worked closely with the Nevada AOC to ensure every deadline was met. Today, New Dawn Technologies boasts the only fully functional piece of the interface, meaning that agencies using JustWare are the only ones who can exchange data to and from the MC-IJIS database.
