Over one-hundred users in seven of the eight prosecutorial districts in the State of Maine have standardized to JustWare | Prosecutor.Challenge
The State of Maine District Attorneys—from the Androscoggin, Aroostook, Hancock, Kennebec, Knox, Penobscot and York District Attorney’s Offices—sought a vendor for case management and document automation.
Solution
After a comprehensive search through many vendors in the criminal justice case management marketplace, JustWare was selected.
New Dawn Technologies worked with the District Attorneys and their staffs to introduce several new features and enhancements to JustWare that met the specific needs of the State of Maine.
Project management included enhancement definition, development design assistance, programming staff development coordination, product testing, initial training arrangement, acceptance testing coordination and working with the sales staff for contractual issues.
With the use of thin-client technology, remote agencies utilize 56K Frame Relay connections to access JustWare at their main office. New Dawn Technologies worked in conjunction with a local consulting firm that oversaw the entire project to confirm and test this communication infrastructure.
The seven agencies worked collaboratively to define a common set of code tables and other similar documents. All seven districts have access to the statewide case and name data. This database is maintained in Kennebec County (DA Central). Through this remote connection, the District Attorney’s staff has access to name information and a case overview on a statewide basis.
Result
JustWare has been live and in operation for the past six years. They maintain an active, collaborative user group that maintains and defines code table and document template changes. The State of Maine have been an instrumental resource for the ongoing development and enhancement of each new JustWare release.
