Shawnee County District Attorneys is one of the largest district attorney offices in the State of Kansas. Shawnee County District Attorneys in Topeka, Kansas went live with JustWare | Prosecutor in 2004 throughout all divisions.
Challenge
Shawnee County handles traffic, domestic violence, juvenile offender, CINC, mental health, general felony, major felony, sex offender and appellate based cases. They required a case management system to manage their attorney calendars on-the-go, reduce paper fillings and convert data from their old system to their new one.
Solution
By utilizing grant funding from the State of Kansas, the JustWare application was implemented throughout the sixty-plus person office. JustWare is used extensively by the attorney staff, who maintains their calendars via BlackBerry handheld devices.
To take advantage of the historical name and case information in their legacy mainframe program, New Dawn's custom developer’s coordinated a detailed electronic data conversion plan working in cooperation with Shawnee County Information Technologies staff.
To eliminate paper filings to the state, the project involves the electronic filing of case and name data from JustWare to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (Kanasas Disposition Reporting) by utilizing New Dawn's JusticeBroker data integration and exchange software solution.
