First Judicial District Attorney in Laramie County was the first customer of New Dawn Technologies. They worked directly with the founder of New Dawn Technologies to create the case management solution that would still be their solution of choice fifteen years later.

Challenge

After receiving grant monies from VOCA/VOWA, the Wyoming County and Prosecuting Attorneys Association approached Tom Higgins, the founder of New Dawn Technologies, to create a case management solution for their district attorneys.  As the first customer, Laramie County worked extensively with New Dawn Technologies to create a custom solution that would meet their needs.

To meet their needs, staff members created a detailed workflow of their office’s operations. This was not an easy task—staff members had to thoroughly evaluate the source of all documents, identify internal management of information sources, document the information whereabouts, identify the staff members involved, and document the activities performed. After all destinations for workflow were identified and documented, a comprehensive business model was created and the work to create a case management solution that would automate those tasks begun.

Laramie County staff worked extensively with the New Dawn Technologies employees to create user manuals of JustWare and to learn how to use the system. After working  together for more than eighteen months, New Dawn Technologies and the First Judicial District Attorney’s office had created the first version of JustWare.

Solution

After the hard work of both New Dawn Technologies and the Laramie County staff, they have a solution that automates many of their daily needs. With JustWare, Laramie County is able to keep track of all case and name information in one central location. “One of the immediate benefits we noticed was that we were able to have all the information at our fingertips rather than having to physically look for a file,” says Lannette Cress, Office Manager.

Result

Laramie County is able to create custom reports, staff members no longer have to manually keep track of report criteria to create a  report—JustWare pulls and analyzes the information into their specific reports automatically.

Over the past decade of using JustWare, Laramie County has seen many advances in the software they helped create. Because of its flexibility, JustWare continues to meet their needs as they grow.
